More relatively quick tablet practice, this time actually attempting to shade and highlight properly sort of! I messed up a little halfway through because the eraser was acting up and I restarted the program only to realize that I’d saved it as a .png rather than the layered format, and so the flat colors, the sketch and the first bit of shading all got merged prematurely, but it turned out pretty nicely given all that, I think!

Stickibat! Is numbats, is Accolantian pikachu, and also is tablet practice (kind of really really starting to like MyPaint you guys, especially since it works on both Windows and Linux unlike SAI or Krita). Colors and design only mostly final—something may change between this and the official art, especially the colors—but is sort of cute for practice, no?

heres the thing
yes probably a hoax. someone cited them being level 1 as evidence, which eeeh I dunno as long as the pokémon can legitimately exist at that level then the official screenie people can set up test battles however they want. most of the screens from BW featured level 50 starters, presumably either set to that level or battling via wireless with autolevel; they weren’t normal ingame screens. these could be hatched, for example. (also I’ve seen Nintendo Power Red and Blue walkthroughs with level 20 rhydon and stuff, so…?)
…on the other hand not even chansey can have 21 HP at level 1 (it can have up to 16 assuming max IVs and all that stuff; blissey, if it were possible to obtain at level 1, would have 17, and that’s with the highest possible base HP stat in the game), but most starters do at level 5, so probs BW starter battle screen with the levels changed to 1 for… some reason???? either that was intentionally left there to tip people off or else… protip hoaxers, if you’re trying to be really convincing then check your stat math :)

5am? Time to practice moar tabletsketchdragons, obvs, with MyPaint this time! (Done without a reference so I know a few things here and there are wrong but it’s 5am do you really expect me to care)
amg my hand really does hurt though I need to figure out why it hurts more than just holding a pencil what am I doing wroooooong

dicking around with tablet, trying out SAI (which I downloaded forever ago but never touched until maybe a few days ago), nothin much
I know they’re rough and I know there’s a ton wrong with the lighting and anatomy and whatever else, and I don’t care; just trying to get used to the tablet and experiment with things that are Not Photoshop, not make beautiful finished art. (I do sorta like the bottom right dragonite head, though.)
Gonna take some getting used to, but I find I’m getting less pissed at my tablet with each practice so that is good! Except my hand hurts from holding the tablet pen help how do I make it not hurt, am I holding it wrong aaaa :(
(ps hey tumblr I haven’t tried photosetting in a while because last time it didn’t work, is it going to work this time plz say yes)
EDIT: ALSO hey any suggestions for other art programs to play around with? I’m not considering ditching Photoshop or SAI or anything, just looking around to see what’s out there! Already considering MyPaint and maybe Krita if Firefox stops saying someone might’ve uploaded viruses to their site, but I’m open to other suggestions while I’m experimenting anyway!
